Who Are They?
ACAT designs and implements sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship training and mentoring, with a strong focus on life skills and project management, to support families living in rural communities address poverty and unemployment. ACAT also equips non-governmental organisations and churches involved in sustainable poverty alleviation to improve their interventions and to run their organisations more efficiently.
The Endowment is supporting ACAT to expand its income-generating activities, mostly in the form of food gardens, but also includes other activities such as spaza shops (small convenience stores), sewing and livestock farming in 138 rural communities in KwaZulu Natal. ACAT does this through the formation of community groups, training courses, field workshops and community farming days.
